MFun Tech Support

If you are having difficulty with anything having to do with how MFun operates, we'll do our best to help you. To arrive at the quickest solution for your problem, please follow this two-step process:

Step 1

You may be able to solve the problem yourself. Check the following resources to see if the answer is there:

  • If you don't have a Transcript file: Use your Registration Number to register to receive your Transcript file (click Register on the left side of this page or click REGISTER ONLINE at the top of this page).
  • If you want to install the lateset version of MFun: click Installers on the left side of this page; then download and run the MFun installer for your operating system. Make sure the installation process is complete.
  • If you can't download your Transcript file from the link in your Registration Confirmation e-mail: The download process varies from browser to browser, and it may even be prevented by your anti-virus or security software. You may need to copy the link and paste it into your browser's address box. If you can't figure out how to download your file from this link, you may find it easier to Register again, using the same Registration Number and Name you registered with before, and download your file from the Registration complete! page. If your e-mail never arrives, re-registering and downloading your file from the Registration complete! page solves that problem too!
  • If you're trying to install MFun on Macintosh OS X 10.11 (El Capitan) and are getting a message saying it’s from an unidentified developer and you shouldn't risk installing it: That message results from an apparent problem in OS X 10.11. The good news is that if you just click on the installer a second time, it will work fine. If this installer really were from an unidentified developer, your second click would just give you the same scary warning again instead of letting you continue with the installation.     Check out A Quick Start Guide and the MFun User Guide which are automatically installed when you install MFun. You'll find both of these files in the MFun Work Folder in your Documents.
  • If you're having problems with sound on a Windows 10, 8, 7, or Vista computer (for example, you don't hear any sound at all when you try to play an MFun example), click here for help in solving the problem. If you're having sound problems on a Windows XP computer, click here.
  • If MFun does not work correctly after you install it (the most common message is something about XTras files missing), you probably have a permissions problem on your computer. To solve it: On Windows, right-click the MFun Installer and select "Run as administrator" to run the installer. On Macintosh, log in with an Admin account, and install MFun again from that account. That should over-ride any permissions problems that are preventing MFun from working correctly.
  • The MFun FAQs (Frequently Asked Questions) on this website have a wealth of information on a variety of topics, including many tech support issues.

Step 2

If your problem seems to be unique, and none of the suggestions above helps, then please contact us online, and include the following information in your message:

  • Your name (both first and last).
  • Your MFun Registration Number.
  • The kind of computer (Mac, Windows, or both) and operating system (Macintosh 10.12, 10.11, 10.10, etc.; Windows 10, Windows 8, Windows 7, Vista, or Windows XP) you're using.
  • A copy of your Transcript file.
  • IF you have installed different settings, a copy of the settings file you installed.
  • If you are a student, what school you attend.
  • In case we need to phone you, your phone number, your city and state, and the best time to call in case e-mail doesn't solve your problem.
  • If you need to send a screen shot or a copy of your Transcript file or settings file, it will save time if you send them as an e-mail attachment to TechSupport@macgamut.com in addition to completing and submitting the online tech support form.
  • In as much detail as possible, please explain exactly what the problem is. And, if at all possible, please send a screen shot that shows the problem:
    1. For Windows users: To make a copy of the active window, press ALT+PRINT SCREEN. Then paste the image into a text document.
    2. For Mac users: Use Grab (in the Utilities Folder in your Applications Folder). Double-click Grab to open it, and then choose “Window” from the Capture menu to take a snapshot of your MFun window.

Tech Support will get back to you as quickly as possible, but if we have to contact you for more information, it will obviously take longer to solve your problem. So please give us as much info as you possibly can to start with. Thanks for your help!
